How Lecture to Notes works
- Press “Record live” on your phone or laptop and keep the page open. The lecture is written out word for word every few seconds, and the notes update every few minutes. Or upload a recording of your class.
- Want to read on a bigger screen? Open this page on your laptop, signed in to the same account, and follow the lecture your phone is recording.
- When you stop, the final notes are written from the whole lecture: a summary, key points by topic, key terms and questions to revise.
- Copy the notes, read the full transcript, or turn them into flashcards with one click.
Questions
Which recordings work?
MP3, M4A, WAV, OGG and most phone and laptop recordings, up to 60 minutes each. Clear speech gives the best notes: sit near the lecturer if you can.
How much does it cost?
It is priced by the length of the recording: 2 tokens per 10 minutes, charged only when your notes are ready. Every account gets 20 free minutes a month.
Can I record live on my phone?
Yes. Press “Record live” and keep the page open with the screen on: most phones stop the microphone when the screen locks or you switch apps. Put the phone near the lecturer and plug it in for long lectures. You can follow the same lecture on your laptop at the same time.
Which languages does it understand?
About 100 languages, from English, Hindi, Spanish, Arabic and Chinese to Swahili, Tamil and Vietnamese. Leave “Language spoken” on “Detect it” for most lectures, including ones that mix languages; choosing the language helps with strong accents or noisy rooms. The notes are written in the language of the lecture, or in any other language you pick.
Is my recording kept?
No. The recording is turned into text piece by piece and isn’t stored. Only the transcript and notes are saved in your account, where only you can see them and you can delete them any time.
Can I record my lecturer?
Many schools allow recording for your own study, but some need the lecturer’s permission. Check your school’s rules and ask if you aren’t sure.
