Check your essay, assignment or thesis before you hand it in. We compare it with pages on the web, highlight every part that matches, and give you a PDF report.
How the plagiarism checker works
- Paste your essay or assignment, or upload the file.
- We search the web with distinctive sentences from it, read the pages that come up and compare them with your whole text.
- You see how much of your text matches the web. Unlock the full report to see each matching page, the highlighted passages, and the PDF.
Questions
Is the plagiarism checker free?
Checking is free, with or without an account, and shows your similarity score. To see the matching web pages and highlighted passages and download the PDF report, unlock it for $1, or with tokens as a member.
What does it compare my text with?
Public web pages. It searches the web with distinctive sentences from your text, reads the pages that come up and compares them with your whole text. Paywalled journals, books and other students’ private papers are not included.
Which files can I check?
Paste your text, or upload a PDF, Word (.docx or .doc), OpenDocument, RTF or text file of up to 15 MB. One check takes up to 5,000 words.
What does the report show?
The share of your text that matches the web, each matching page with its link, and your text with every copied passage highlighted in the colour of its source. You can download it as a PDF.
Does a match mean I plagiarised?
No. Quotations, references and common phrases can match too. Use the report to check that every match is quoted and cited before you hand your work in.
Is my text kept private?
Yes. Your text is never added to our library or shown to anyone else. Uploaded files are deleted as soon as they have been read, and checks are deleted after 30 days.
